Jian, a former member of LIGHTSUM, has published a handwritten letter to the group’s followers in which she addresses her departure from the group.
On October 31, Jian posted a message.
“Dear SUMIT, Jian’s here.
You must have been very shocked by the unexpected news. After great deliberation, I chose to use a letter to convey my views to the fans in the most effective way possible.
In my third year of middle school, I made my LIGHTSUM debut. Since then, I’ve moved on to high school. I was able to learn so much, develop so much, and feel so much love in this brief period of time all because of SOMIT.
To all SUMIT who traveled a great distance to watch our performance, to all SUMIT who came to see us even on hot and wet days, to all SUMIT who always offered me kind words of encouragement, and to the SUMIT who live overseas who supported me through their letters and our video chat sessions… Just these pictures of you, I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Of course, there were times when I was worn out and under pressure, but SUMIT allowed me to get through it all. I was able to grow as a person after a year and four months.
This is not the end, in my opinion. Let’s believe that there will be a day when we can meet again because I won’t give up on my aspirations and will keep running in their direction. Although I appreciate your concern for me, I also hope that SUMITs won’t be adversely affected by this.
Please don’t think of this as the end or our farewell because you have helped me create wonderful memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I will also always have a special place in my heart for SUMITs. I want to express my gratitude to all the SUMITs who have loved and supported me. Also, please support Jian in the future.”
On October 25, Cube Entertainment previously declared that Jian and Hwiyeon will leave LIGHTSUM and that the female group would moving forward continue to promote as 6-members.
