YG Entertainment has finally decided to sue the person or people who leaked Jennie’s personal photos. They revealed in a recently released statement:
YG Entertainment is the company.
We are officially requesting that the police investigate the original distributor of BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s personal photos. YG has been continuously monitoring the relevant content, and after gathering information, we filed a complaint in September.
To avoid further damage, YG has refrained from commenting on the situation and expressing our position. However, the recent indiscriminate spread of rumors, accusations, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy sparked by personal photos made us feel a sense of responsibility, making it difficult for us to ignore this any longer. As a result, we want to reveal the facts of the legal action and correct the situation.
YG is taking strong legal action against posts that tarnish our agency’s artist’s character and reputation. We have filed a complaint under the Information and Communications Network Act for defamation, violation of the prohibition on illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media for the actions of repeatedly uploading information that has not been verified to be true and writing excessively malicious posts.
We intend to pursue all [possible] legal remedies without regard for any subsequent harm. Regardless of one’s personal intentions, the photos that have circulated online were obtained illegally. Sharing [these personal photos] is not only a secondary offense, but it is also punishable by law. We respectfully request that you refrain from indiscriminate sharing.
YG Entertainment will continue to work hard to protect the rights of its artists in the future. Thank you very much.
